Richard Gerard "Rick" Wallace, 56, Minot and formerly of the Devils Lake area died on Wednesday in a Tioga hospital from an apparent heart attack.

Rick was born on June 3, 1955 in Devils Lake to Kenneth and Walburga (Volk) Wallace. He was reared and educated in Webster and Sweetwater and graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1973. He attended Lake Region Junior College prior to graduating from North Dakota State University with a degree in agriculture. As a young adult he assisted on the family farm, taught VoAg at Granville High School and was employed at Dowell in Williston.

Rick married Cathey Soper on October 30, 1981 in Devils Lake. They made their home in Devils Lake, Williston, Eagan, MN, and Sauk Rapids, MN. The family moved to Minot in 1993 where he was employed by Jack Pankow and Cliff Stone before becoming self-employed as a financial advisor. Most recently, he was employed by Baha Petroleum as a Site Access Officer consultant in the Williston Basin oil field.

Rick was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene - Minot, Sertoma, National Association of Financial Advisors, Minot Association of Financial Advisors, Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie. He especially enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and computers.

Rick's loving family includes his wife of 30 years Cathey; children: Ryan (Ashley) Wallace of Seattle, WA, and Laura Wallace of Minneapolis; siblings: Mary Ann (Jon) Ingenthron of Davis, CA, Tom Wallace of Wolverton, MN, Terry (Patty) Wallace of Devils Lake, Virginia (Allen) Eisenzimmer of Devils Lake and William Wallace of Minot and several nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as his special companions (dogs) Tiger and Tigger.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Gary and Daniel.

Public Visitation : Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.

Private Funeral Service : Those wishing to attend should request an invitation from the family.

Burial will be in Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
