Richard J. Roteliuk, 73, rural Sawyer, died Friday, July 6, 2007 at his residence.
Richard was born April 20, 1934, on the family farm near Sawyer, North Dakota, the son of Dan and Ruby (Thedroff) Roteliuk. He was raised on the family farm and educated at country schools in the area. Richard was united in marriage to Gloriann Marschall on October 16, 1955, in Hope Lutheran Church, rural Sawyer.
Richard owned and operated Roteliuk Excavating from 1958-1998 and had farmed in Greeley Township of Ward County throughout the years. He retired in 1998 due to ill health. He had served on the Sawyer School Board for over thirty years. He was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church, where he served as the Treasurer.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gloriann; children, Roxanne (Dennis) Heizelman, Fargo, Rondel (Cody) Roteliuk, Sawyer, Robin (Jac) Thornton, West Fargo, RaeLynn (Stephen) Mapes, Minot, Rynelle (John) Altevogt, Edwardsville, KS, Rusten (Lisa) Roteliuk, Minot, Ravona (Dan) Norton, West Fargo, Ronette (Michael) Martin, Green Bay, WI; Grandchildren, Dennis Jr "Rick" (Monique) Heizelman, Daryck (Michelle) Heizelman, Dallas (Faith) Heizelman, Jessica, Carissa & Dominic Mapes, Kade & Zachary Thornton, Kyler & Mara Roteliuk, McKenna & Hannah Norton, Rhenna Martin, Great-Grandchildren: Dyson, Destinee and Drake Heizelman, Alex Heizelman.
Brother: Luchy (Judy) Roteliuk, Harbor City, CA; Sister-in-law: Wynette Halden, rural Sawyer, ND; Brother-in-law: Elloide (JoAnn) Marschall, rural Sawyer, ND, a number of nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Ernest Halden and Vernon Marschall, and sister-in-law, Jeanette Marschall.
Funeral service
: Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in Hope Lutheran Church, rural Sawyer.
Interment
: Hope Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sawyer.
Visitation
: Monday from noon - 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. in the Church with a Family service there at 7:30p.m.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers or plants.
