Rick had a passion for music and song. During the 60's and 70's he sang and played the guitar in a number of bands and he had his own rock band "Shane" employing several local musicians from 1972 through 1976. He continued with the band after starting a career with Civil Service.

Judy was able to continue her career as well, but they were often assigned to different activities. Rick continued to be active in music directing an Air Force band while employed at Bitburg GE "The Eagle Singers". They ended their 10 year stretch in Europe and Asia in 1989/Judy 1991, when Rick was selected as the Command housing Manager for ATC, at Randolph AFB in Texas. Judy went to work at as their chief of Staffing for Luke AFB a year later.
