Richard Waldo Hoechst, 71, of Velva, formerly of Sawyer, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva, ND.
Richard Waldo Hoechst was born April 5, 1947 in Minot, ND to Waldo and Verna (Helstedt) Hoechst. He was raised and instructed through elementary school in Minot ND. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1968. Following his education, he moved to Minneapolis, MN and lived there working at various machine shops as a machinist. He then moved to Sawyer, ND where he lived for ten years, moved to various other locations including, Denver, Co before settling in Deering, ND in 1995.
Richard was once married to Judy Martinson and later to Kathy Schumann.
His family had a religious affiliation with Augustana Lutheran Church in Minot where Richard was confirmed. Richard was intrigued with motorcycles and antique cars and was very mechanically inclined.
He was a member of the New Horizon Motorcycle Club for over forty years.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Billie Jo Case, of Arvada, CO, three brothers: Lonnie Hoechst, of Gwinner, ND, Mark (Marlya) Hoechst and Vernell (Wanda) Hoechst, all of Bismarck, ND and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Verna Hoechst.
Funeral Service for Richard W. Hoechst: Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, with burial following the service at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
