Richard D. Edward, 67, retired USAF Major, of Glenburn, ND, died Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in a Minot Hospital.

Richard was born April 22, 1952, the son of Robert Wallace and Joan Nadine (Beller) Edward in Ogden, Utah. He moved with his family to Idaho Falls, ID, where he was raised and educated and graduated from high school. He entered into active duty service enlisting with the USAF July of 1970.

Richard was united in marriage to Elizabeth Anne Munday on December 29, 1973. He became an officer in 1981 and honorably served his country in England, Alaska, Great Falls, MT, as well as Grand Forks and Minot, until retiring with the rank of Major from Minot Air Force Base in July of 1996. He was proud of the fact that he came to Minot to facilitate the opening of the new USAF hospital on base.

After retiring, he was employed with Sykes Call Center as a manager of software support until the center closed. He later worked at the Minot Air Force Base in civil service with Transient alert. In addition, he had taught business classes on base through Park University.

Richard and Anne had made their home on a ranch near Glenburn, where they enjoyed working with horses. He was an avid gun collector, skeet shooter and former member of the Minot American Legion.

His loving family includes: wife of 46 years, Anne Edward of Glenburn, ND; son , Scott (Leslee) Edward, Reno, NV; 3 grandchildren to include: Makayla (Alec) Miller, Jake Edward & Hailey Edward; sister, Dawn Douglas, Salt Lake City, UT and brother, Rob Edward, Denver, CO; several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

A service will take place later in the Spring of 2020 at a site to be determined.
