Obituary

Richard C. "Dick" Sharp, 82, Minot, formerly of Glenburn, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 in a Minot Hospital.

Dick was born June 2, 1927 at Glenburn, ND the son of John F. and Nannie (Snowberger) Sharp. He was raised on the family farm and educated at Glenburn, graduating from Glenburn High School in 1945. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in 1946, and honorably served his country following World War II. Following his service, he returned to the Glenburn area in 1948, and began farming with his father and brother and served as a substitute rural mail carrier in the Glenburn area.

Dick was united in marriage to Faye Becker on July 14, 1954 at Minot. They made their home at Glenburn for a short time, until they moved to Minot in 1956. He began employment with the U.S. Post Office in Minot and continued with the Postal service working as a clerk until retiring in 1987.

Dick was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was active on the Board of Trustees and served as an Elder. He enjoyed ushering at Sunday services and for special events. He was active with the Minot Hockey Boosters, serving as a goal judge for many games and was inducted into the Minot High School Hockey Hall of Fame for his efforts throughout the years. Dick was a longtime member of the Golden K Kiwanis and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

His loving family includes , Wife of fifty-five years, Faye; Children, Robert Sharp, Grafton, Jim (Vickie) Sharp, Canon City, CO, Paul (Claudia) Sharp, Jamestown, David Sharp, Bismarck; Grandchildren: Nicholas, Jessica, Matthew and Kristi; Great-Grandchild: Kiarra; along with several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ken, Eugene and Basil and sisters, Mabel Matson, and Louise Jensen, along with two infants.

Funeral service : Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment:
Fairview Cemetery, Glenburn, ND, later in the spring.
Visitation:
Tuesday from 2:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church or organization of the donors choice.
