Richard E. "Dick" Luehe, 78, Minot, died Monday, September 17, 2007 in a Minot Hospital.
Dick was born May 12, 1929 at Minot, ND, the son of Arno and Thelma (Burns) Luehe. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1947. He entered into active duty service with the US Army Air Force, serving from 1947 to 1950. Dick returned to Minot to work with his father in the operation of Minot Cab Company.
Dick was united in marriage to Lorna Anderson on August 16, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Towner. Dick opened a Hertz Rent-a-car franchise in Minot in 1953. He owned and operated the business until his retirement in 2003. His son, Rian, assisted his father in the operation of the business and has continued to own and operate the business in most recent years.
Dick had received a number of distinguished service awards throughout the years from the Hertz Corporation.
Dick was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, and a member of the Minot American Legion, Elks Lodge and Magic City Lions Club.
Dick maintained a strong interest in his MHS Alumni Class of 1947, enjoyed planning a high school reunion or event and held dear his personal friendships with the MHS Alumni and local business community. He enjoyed the 1940's "Big Band" Music and was well known for his story telling, humor and conversation.
His loving family includes : Wife of fifty-four years, Lorna; Children: Rian (Carla) Luehe, Minot, Mary (Sydney) Hove, Minot, and Ann (Doug) Steen, Eden Prairie, MN; Grandchildren: Matthew, Jillian, Lily, Andrew, Cody and Kiah.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jeanine Luehe.
Funeral service
: Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Minot;
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot;
Visitation
: Friday from 2:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
At the request of family, there will be no reviewal at the church.
Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers or plants.
