Obituary

Richard Wallace "Dick" Johnson, 72, Minot, formerly of Des Lacs, died Sunday, November 22, 2015 in a Minot Hospital.

Dick was born September 6, 1943 in Minot to Wallace and Kathleen (Spires) Johnson. He graduated from Des Lacs High School in 1961. He attended Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in August of 1962. Dick was honorably discharged in September of 1966 after serving his country during the Vietnam War.

On September 6, 1969, Dick married Marcella "Sallie" Schultz. Dick received an Associate's degree from Minot State College. He joined the Minot Police Department in 1970, where he faithfully served the community for 34 years, retiring in 2004. Dick and Sallie raised their family in Des Lacs, where he kept an immaculate yard and garden and enjoyed his hobby farm for many years. In 1994, they moved to Minot.

Dick was currently attending Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot. He was a former member of the Minot Eagles Aerie, Minot American Legion and North Dakota State Fair committee for several years. He enjoyed visiting and traveling with his family, coffee with Leo, Mac, Norm and Larry and reminiscing with his long time Navy friends, Darrell and Tom. Dick was known for his fun-loving teasing and jokes and of course his world famous popcorn!
