Richard P. Brey, 78, 1523 12th Ave. NW, Minot, died Sunday, October 29, 2006, in a Minot nursing Home.
Richard was born November 8, 1927, in Minot, ND, to Fred and Sarah (Perry) Brey. He was raised and educated in Minot, where he graduated from Minot High School in 1945. Richard attended North Dakota State University, and graduated with a degree in pharmacy.
Following graduation, Richard moved to Garrison, ND, and started a pharmacy in 1950. Richard was previously united in marriage, and this union was blessed with three children. He moved to Minot, in the mid 1950's, where he would be instrumental in starting the pharmacy at St. Joseph's Hospital. He also aided the state of North Dakota in developing their poison control center. Richard was united in marriage to Clarice Doede. He continued to work in Minot until the early 1970's, when they moved to Arizona. He was employed at a pharmacy in Florence, AZ, until returning to Minot in the early 1990's for retirement.
Richard was a lover of sports, no matter what brand. He golfed and was an excellent ping-pong player and was known to be a sly cheater in a game of pinochle. He will be missed by all those who shared in his life.
He is survived by: Wife: Clarice Brey, Minot; Children: Julie (Greg) DeSaye, Minot, Susan (Jeff) Witter, Minot, and James Brey, Orlando, FL; Stepchildren: Michael (Debbie) Doede, Inver Grove Heights, MN and James (Nancy) Doede, Los Angeles, CA; Grandchildren: Greg DeSaye Jr., Ashleigh and Nikolaos Doede; and numerous nieces, and a nephew.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred Pederson, and brother, Al Brey.
Funeral:
A Private Family Service will be held.
Visitation:
There will be no reviewal, however, family and friends are invited to sign a memorial register book on Tuesday, October 31, 2006, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home of Minot.
Memorials:
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
