Obituary

Richard D. 'Dick' Anderson, 73, lifetime mechanic in the Minot area, died Thursday, May 30, 2019 in his home.

Richard was born September 29, 1945 in Minot, ND to Rubert and Gena (Dovre) Anderson. He was baptized and a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minot. He grew up in Minot on Valley Street and attended Minot High School, graduating with the class of 1963.

Richard got his start as a mechanic at the local Whitey's Conoco station during his youth. After high school, Richard turned wrenches at Dave's Standard Oil until joining LE Beeter & Company in the mid 1960's. He worked in the parts department but his talents were soon realized as a mechanic. Lawn mowers to combines and everything in between were fixed under his care. He was known by his co-workers, family, and friends over the years as Dick, Rich, and Richie.

Richard was united in marriage to Connie Beeter on March 14, 1970. They have made their home in the valley their entire lives in rural Minot. He transitioned with the sale of LE Beeter & Company to Foley Implement until he joined Clean Harbors Environmental as their mechanic. At age 67, he joined Sundre Sand & Gravel. He loved to work and never truly retired in his mind until this past Sunday, May 26, 2019.

Richard was a walleye fisherman, trap shooter, pheasant hunter, amateur gambler, and quite the water-skier during his youth. It only ran right if was built by Ford Motor Company. He loved driving his Mustang with the love of his life Connie as the passenger. Gun collecting, camping, building projects, Twins baseball, and time spent with his Brittany's also made up the fabric of this talented man. Richard loved his grandchildren with his whole heart and simply wanted them to have the best.  He treasured every moment he spent with each of them.

According to his sister, Richard did not make the family paratrooper team as he failed to complete the jump from the top of their family home at the direction of his mom. He will be missed by all who knew him as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and mechanic.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Connie, rural Minot; daughter Lisa (Rusten) Roteliuk, Minot; grandchildren Rylan, Renden, and Reagan Roteliuk, all of Minot; sister Becky (Gary) Hill, rural Minot; 9 nieces, 12 nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.
