Obituary

Retired Senior MSgt. Robert Lewis Medley Sr ., 63, Minot, North Dakota departed this life on 10th September 2010, at Trinity Medical Center.

He was born October 15, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Harry and June Medley. An enthusiastic Boy Scout, Robert was raised first in Cleveland and then Ft. Lauderdale, where he attended Fort Lauderdale High School. During high school, he was an active member of the choir and football teams.

He married his fiance, Linda at Resurrection Church, Dania Florida on March 5, 1966. Heeding the nations call, he joined the Air Force in May 1966, and served 2 and tours in Vietnam, where he received the Purple Heart among other decorations.

After twenty years of faithful service, including several tours at Rhein Main Airbase, Federal Republic of Germany, he retired at Minot, North Dakota in 1986. Diligent in retirement, Robert attended Minot State University, earning bachelor's degree and graduating with honors. Additionally, he earned an associates degree from Georgia Military College and a bachelor's degree from the University of New York. He began working with AMTRAK where he was the Minot station agent for many years.

Robert was a gregarious man of honor. He was active in his church, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father and friend to all. He will be deeply missed.

Surviving relatives include: wife, Linda, Minot ND; sister, Donna and husband, Andy Malek, Brunswick OH; daughter, Laura and son-in law, Jerry Oja, Surrey ND; son, Robert Jr. and daughter in law, Elaine Pabalan Medley, Gaithersburg MD; grandchildren, Joseph, Krystal, Jake, Josh, Zachary, Isaac, Nickolas, Ian and extended family members.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and June Medley and older brother Harry.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2010, at St. Leos Catholic Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Cemetery, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, September 15, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
