Reta Jean Thom , 58, Rugby, formerly of Minot, died Saturday, August 27, 2016, in her home.
Reta Jean Thom was born on April 23, 1958 in Minot, ND, the daughter of Steven and Donna (Fuller) Lozensky. She was raised and educated in Minot, graduating from Minot High School in 1976.
Reta was once united in marriage to Bradley Thom. This union was blessed with three children, Mandi, Amy and Josh. They lived in Minot until moving to Burlington, where Reta was employed at Dairy Queen.
Reta returned to Minot and began employment at the Moose Lodge for many years, where she was a bartender and filled in when needed in the office. She was also employed at Closet Connection for a time in addition to caring for the needs of her family.
In October of 2015, Reta moved to Rugby with her fianc Paul Malcomb.
Reta was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Minot and had also been attending Paul's church, Southside Church of the Nazarene in Minot.
Reta was an outstanding writer of poetry and music. She had many offers to publish her work over the years. One of her passions was decorating, especially for the holidays. No matter what time of year it was, she always made sure there were plenty of lights displayed around her home. You could often find her playing Bingo or Mini Golf with family and friends. She treasured the special time spent with her family. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and also had a love for animals, especially her pet, Sami. She will be missed deeply by all who shared in her life.
Those cherishing Reta's memory include her fianc, Paul Malcomb, Rugby; children: Mandi Mosser, Mandan, Amy (Adam) Schatz, Bismarck and Josh (Kaylie) Thom, Minot; grandchildren: Anthony and Emily Mosser, Makenna Thom and Emma, Hadley and baby boy Schatz; sister: Julie (Roger) Hovey, Seattle, WA; niece, Kristina Hovey and great-niece, Kiana Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Kathleen Lozensky and brother, Daniel Lozensky.
Booksigning
: Friday, September 2, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
