Obituary

Reverend Reinhold Miller, 84, Minot died on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in a Minot nursing home with his family by his side.

Reinhold was born May 3, 1927 in Melville, Saskatchewan, Canada to George and Sophie (Matteis) Miller. He was reared and educated in Melville and graduated from Melville School. The family then moved to Oliver, British Columbia. He then spent several years playing junior hockey in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, followed by senior hockey with the Vernon Canadians. Following a shoulder injury, he discontinued his hockey career and returned to school at Pacific University in Tacoma, Washington. He then entered the Lutheran Seminary in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, graduating with the class of 1957.

Reiny married Marian Hack on July 7, 1957, in Regina, Saskatchewan. They made their home over the years in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and various communities in North Dakota, while following his calls as a Lutheran pastor.

Reiny was an avid sports fan all of his life and especially enjoyed playing hockey with his grandson, who now plays junior hockey. He also enjoyed curling, basketball and baseball.

In 1993, Reiny retired and moved to Minot. Although he was retired, he still continued to do pulpit supply at many points throughout North Dakota.

Reinhold's loving family includes his wife Marian of 54 years; son, Randy (Julie) Miller, Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Naomi (Jeffrey) Bancroft, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jordan and Kayla Bancroft and Whitney Miller; sister, Martha Atchison, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Reiny was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Anne Kesselring, Emma Kilbach, Wilma Conroy, Mary Miller and Margaret Solloway and brothers, George, John and Ernest Miller.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment will be in the Grenfell, Saskatchewan City Cemetery.
There will be no reviewal; however, family and friends are invited to sign a memorial register book on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Bethany Lutheran Church - Minot.
