Raymond Wick , 92, Minot, died Sunday, September 09, 2018 in a Minot nursing home.
Raymond was born March 18, 1926, in Columbus, ND to Anton and Annie (Stensrud) Wick. He spent his youth in Columbus. After completing school, he was employed by the City of Columbus for a number of years.
Raymond inducted into the US Army on June 29, 1944 in Ft. Snelling, MN. He served his country honorably and discharged from active duty on June 12, 1946.
Raymond was united in marriage to Beverly Huizenga on October 2, 1954 in Minot, ND. They made their home in Minot. Raymond was employed in the construction industry as a bricklayer with both Mackley & Mattson Construction Companies. He spent the latter part of his working years employed by the Minot Area Vocational Workshop, now known as KALIX until his retirement. Beverly passed away on March 19, 2008.
Raymond was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and Eagles Aerie of Minot. He also maintained a MN Laborers Union membership for many years. He played softball enjoying many tournaments in his young years. Ray loved watching anything sports, but enjoyed baseball and football games most as a fan of the Minnesota Twins and University of North Dakota Sioux. Pinochle was his card game of choice playing for hours with family and friends. Raymond enjoyed listening to old bands that featured country music. He will be missed dearly by all who shared in his life.
Raymond is survived by his children, Marie (Rodney) Greene – Bismarck, ND, Karen Katterhenry, Sunset, LA, Russell (Bobbie) Wick, Westminster, CO and LeRae Fladstol, Great Falls, MT; grandchildren, Stephen McCollum, Amy Dover and family, Brad Lacer and family, Deidre Greene, Daren (Jade Stanislowski) Greene and Nathan Wick and family; great-grandchildren, Fancie, Jakob & Mackenzie; sister-in-law, Vi Huizenga, Minot; dear friend, Tawny Quist, Minot, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly, grandson, Dustin Greene, sisters, Lillian Larson and Alice Taylor, brothers, Carl, Elvin, Glenn, and William Wick, nephew, Brian Huizenga and half-sister, Bertha.
Funeral service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2018 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Sunday, September 16, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
