Raymond Helseth Sr., 82, Minot, died Friday, October 27, 2017 in a Minot nursing home.
Raymond Lawrence Helseth Sr. was born on November 24, 1934 to Reinhold and Opal (Getchell) Torgrimson in Minot. His upbringing and education took place north of Minot in Tatman Township of Ward County, North Dakota.
Raymond was united in marriage to Dorothy Warner on November 13, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Keene, ND until 1962 when they moved to Minot. Raymond was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry throughout North Dakota for many years. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 49.
Raymond was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge of Minot. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards with his family. He spent time in the garden with his wife even if most of that time was spent weeding and tilling. He also enjoyed attending auction sales. Raymond will be missed deeply by all who shared in his life.
His family includes loving wife of nearly 61 years, Dorothy Helseth, Minot; children, Raymond Jr. (Diane) Helseth, Burlington, ND, Rodney Helseth of South Dakota, Susan (Mike) Ell, Underwood, ND, Russell (Darla) Helseth of South Dakota and Darrell Helseth, Tioga, ND; numerous grandchildren, sister, Ardith Johnson, Plaza, ND; brothers, Allen (Phyllis) Helseth of Missouri and Marvin (Marilyn) Helseth both of Missouri along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Vernon Johnson.
Funeral Service:
1:30 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation:
Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials
are preferred to Trinity Homes of Minot for activities.
