Raymond Myers , 81, of Surrey, died Wednesday June 18, 2014 at his residence.
Raymond "Ray"Earl Myers was born July 13, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Ray and Estella (Benton) Myers. He was raised in Minot by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Mabel Benton. He graduated in 1952 from College High School (later known as Model).
Ray was united in marriage with Vivian (Vicki) Neshem on June 23, 1952 in Minot. They resided in Minot during their early years of marriage, moving to Surrey in 1959. Ray began working for the Great Northern Railroad in September, 1953 and continued with the railroad until retiring in 1993, after 40 years of service. Ray was fortunate to be within a mile of his work, except for a short period of time working and living in Mandan. He enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, as well as many train rides to visit family and friends.
Ray was a devoted man of God, always giving freely of his time to the work of those in need. He was known for his ability to do electrical wiring, plumbing and "fixing" many homes and churches, which brought him great satisfaction. He was often found working in his garage rebuilding car engines, or helping someone in need of a mechanic. Ray was active in his church, serving on boards, teaching Sunday School, and serving in whatever capacity he was needed. He was always willing and excited to transport anyone to and from church, whether it be children for Sunday School or elderly people no longer able to get out to church on their own. He seldom missed sending a card for family and friends birthdays and anniversaries, which became one of his many ministries.
Ray was a true prayer warrior. He was continually in prayer for his family and friends, having a specific day every week for each individual child and their family. The joy of Ray's life was serving the Lord and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Lighthouse Fellowship Church, Minot.
His loving family includes: wife, Vicki Myers, Minot; Sons, Tim (Karen) Myers, Vancouver, WA; Terry (Cindy) Myers, Aberdeen, SD; Todd (Diane) Myers, Surrey, ND; Dee (Sheri) Myers, Fargo, ND, Dave (Karla) Myers, Surrey, ND; Jeff (Robin) Myers, Vancouver, WA; Daughter, Judy (Dave) Klein, Minot, ND; Fifteen grandchildren; Twenty-One Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Benton (Darlene); William "Bill"; Harrison (JoAnn); Donald "Dutch" (Maxine); Marlin "Slim" (June); Lowell (Betty); Sisters, Mabel Albertson; Ruth Borgen; Ruby (Loren) Podruchny; numerous nieces and nephews.
