Obituary

Raymond James "Jim" Monson, 69, Minot, formerly of Crosby, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in a Minot Healthcare Center surrounded by his family.

Jim was born March 26, 1947 at Crosby, North Dakota, the son of Raymond A. and Rose Mary (Walsh) Monson. He was raised and educated at Crosby and graduated from Crosby High School in 1966. He entered into active duty service with the U.S. Army in 1967 and honorably served his country for three years during the Vietnam War. He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, along with other medals for his distinguished service to his country.

Jim returned to North Dakota, where he was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a number of years at the Crosby Good Samaritan Nursing Care Center. He retired in 2005 and moved to Minot to be nearer family members.

Jim enjoyed watching sporting events on the television, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Twins games. He adored his nieces and nephews and they loved spending time with him.

Jim is survived : by his mother, Rose Mary Monson of Minot; siblings, Karen Bakke of Minot, Gail Hambro, Sidney, MT, Douglas Monson, Minot, Deborah Monson, Minot and Warren Monson, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private Family service: will be held at Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment will take place at a later date.
Visitation: At the request of the family, friends may sign a memorial register book on Monday, April 4th from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
