Obituary

Randy "Animal" Herman, 64, Minot, formerly of Upham, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in a Minot nursing home.

Animal was born on April 10, 1951, in Minot, North Dakota to Clarence and Laura (Hussey) Herman. He grew up and attended school in Upham.

Animal was called upon to serve our nation as a member of the U.S. Army in Vietnam, where he worked as a mechanic. Following his honorable discharge, he made his life and raised his children in Seattle, WA. Animal became a master mechanic, working on gas and diesel engines for many companies over the years. He returned to his roots in Upham in the Spring 2012. His last mechanic position was with Sundt, Inc. working on the Minot Air Force Base with his sister, Debbie. The company wanted him to transfer with them once their project on the base was completed because he was revered for his abilities around an engine.

Animal could fix anything. He loved North Dakota in all of its beauty. Farming and ranching were also some of his interests; however, everything took a backseat to his love of riding his 'Harley' on the open road. His 'min pin' dog, 'Cookie' was a trusted companion, often accompanying him on his motorcycle rides. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.

He is survived by his sons, Buff Herman of California and Aaron Herman of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Ursa (Herman) Ames of Tucson, AZ; son, Darrell Herman of California; sister, Debbie( Adam Griesmer) Herman Echols of Upham, ND; 5 grandkids, Ryder, Rylie, Julia, Megan and Trevor Herman; and nephews, Michael, David, and Westin Echols.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog, Cookie.

A celebration of life service will be held at Debbie and Adams house in Upham at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015.
Interment: July 3, 2015 at Bloomfield Cemetery, Upham, ND
Memorials are preferred to the animal shelter of the donor's choice.
