Ramona Carmen "Nonie" Smith , 84, Minot, formerly of Deering, died Friday, November 7, 2014 in a Minot nursing home.
Ramona was born on June 17, 1930 in Minot, ND to Allen and Gladys (Hansen) Swartwout. She was raised and educated in Deering, ND.
Ramona married Raymond Smith on June 19, 1948 in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. They made their home in Deering for a number of years, where together they raised their five children and Raymond was employed by Standard Oil Company, serving as an agent in Deering until 1966. They moved to Everett, Washington for one year, but returned to Deering in 1967.
While they lived in Everett, WA, Nonie was a long distance telephone operator for GTE. After moving back to Deering, she was employed at the Deering School as a cook.
