Ralph 'Chub' Brown , 88, Berthold, died Friday, December 11, 2015 in a Minot hospital.

Ralph was born April 14, 1927, one of ten children, to Harry and Mabel (Pederson) Brown April 14, 1927, near Berthold, ND.

Chub was united in marriage to Marlayne Porter on March 10, 1946 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold. This union was blessed with eleven children.

He lived his entire life in Berthold, where he owned and operated Brown's City Service from 1946 until 2013. Chub sold it all at his store on Main Street over the years. Cars, televisions, refrigerators were a few of the items he carried over the years. In addition to his business he also farmed in the Ryder and Palermo areas for a number of years. Marlayne passed away February 17, 1995.

Chub enjoyed hunting and was quite a card player. He attended many local 'smokers' over the years, where he was often found at the gin or poker table, trying his luck. Chub was a staple of many area auction sales, a trait that has passed on to a few in the family, looking for the next treasure.

Ralph was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.

Chub's loving family includes his children, Barbara (Paul) Zuther, Harvey, ND, Ralph (Marlene) Brown Jr., Ray, ND, Maylynn (Knute) Asmundson, Granville, ND, Mike Brown, Berthold, ND, Gene (Patricia) Brown, Ross, ND, Daniel Brown, Seattle, WA; Patricia Olson, Palermo, ND, Diane (Rick) Odegard, Grand Forks, ND, Sue (Tim) Thoreson, Williston, ND and Tim (friend Robin) Brown, Powers Lake, ND; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Joe (Carolyn) Brown, Minot and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, Marlayne, son, William Brown, Sisters, Mae Brown, Ruth Berg and Jeanette Schultz, and brothers, Harold, Jack, Jim, Harry, Darrel and Maynard Brown.

Mass of Christian Burial : 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold.
Visitation: Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the church.
Vigil Prayer Service : 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the church.
Memorials are preferred to St. Ann's Catholic Church, Berthold.
