Obituary

Phylo Faye Drawz, 84, Minot died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in a Minot hospital.

Phylo was born on October 29, 1926 in Anamoose, ND to Emil and Merle (Elder) Pfeifle. She was the youngest of four children and was raised by her maternal grandparents Ira and Alice (Randall) Elder after her mother died when she was very young. She was raised and educated in Anamoose. She completed her senior year of high school and graduated from Minot Model High School in 1944. She continued her education at Trinity School of Nursing through the Nurse Cadet Corps and graduated from that program in 1947. World War II ended shortly before she was called into the military.

Phylo married Clark J. Drawz on December 27, 1947 at First Presbyterian Church in Minot. They lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana while Clark attended college and she worked as a nurse. They returned to Minot where she was a full-time wife and mother. Phylo and Clark spent parts of several winters in McAllen TX. Clark died on January 31, 1997.

Phylo was a member of PEO Chapter R and First Presbyterian Church where she was actively involved as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, women's circle and couples club as well as Lillian's Smith's bible study group. She was a volunteer at local Red Cross clinics and especially enjoyed needlework, reading, baking and visiting with family and friends. Music was an important part of her life, she found enjoyment playing the piano, listening to music created by her great niece. She and Clark had many adventures traveling to various corners of the world. Her wit and humor helped brighten our days and she enjoyed instigating a good prank. Fond memories include fun times at Rice Lake and Lake Sakakawea, family vacations, trips and friends. She especially enjoyed being involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives and activities. Whether at a concert, play, or swim meet, she was there to cheer for them. The sound of geese flying overhead was one of her favorite sounds.

Phylo's loving family includes her children: Barbara (David) Morrison of Brighton, CO, Roy "Chip" (Barbara) Drawz of Minot, Kurt Drawz of Flagstaff, AZ and Jeff (SuAnne) Drawz of Minot; grandchildren: Toni (Ray) Cade, Melissa Shearer, Nick (Jennifer) Davidson, Scott (Michelle) Drawz, Stacey (Tim) Rhodes, Brent, Michael, James and Kaitlin Drawz; great grandchildren: Simone and Olivia Cade, Zach Shearer, Nolan and Peyton Davidson, Claire and Charlie Rhodes and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
