Phyllis Doyle Flanagan , 82, Fargo, formerly of Minot, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025 with family by her side.

Phyllis Irene Doyle Flanagan was born on March 20, 1943, to Lawrence and Helen (Christianson) Doyle. She was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 1961.

In 1963, she married Arlen Evensen. They lived in North Dakota and South Dakota together. They were blessed with two children Christine and Dean. Their marriage later ended. She married James Flanagan, Sr. and had a third child, Michael. She then moved back to Minot to be closer to family.

Phyllis spent her years as a homemaker. Later in her life she took pride working at schools as a paraprofessional and spent her retired time rocking babies at the YMCA.

Puzzles, painting, music, and word find books brought Phyllis happiness, but nothing quite compared to the sweet comfort of a Hershey's chocolate kiss, a small treat she never turned down. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her immense joy. Her face would light up whenever she spent time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their visits, calls, and stories meant the world to her. She also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Lilly, who was always by her side. Lilly brought her comfort, companionship, and unconditional love throughout the years.

Her family will especially miss her blunt, unfiltered, but always funny comments that brought laughter and honesty to every gathering. Her sharp wit and straightforwardness were a cherished part of her personality that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving family including her children Christine (Gene) Davis, Fargo, ND and Michael (Stacie) Flanagan, Glenburn, ND; grandchildren Garrett (Andrea) Davis, Gabrielle (Travis) Richter, Grace (Chris) Ennen, Seth Flanagan, and Coleman Flanagan; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Sharon (R.J.) Schestler, Marvel (Frank) Schaefer, Lorna Spencer all of Minot, ND, and Patty (Jerry) Herker of Medical Lake, WA, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her son Dean Evensen and her brother Larry Doyle III.
