Obituary

Phillip Jack Jensen, 77 of rural Minot died on Monday, February 25, 2008 in a Minot nursing home.

Phil was born on March 22nd, 1930 in Isanti, MN to William and Olga (Hendrickson) Jensen. He was raised in Thief River Falls, MN and graduated from Lincoln High School as an honor student and member of the National Thespian Society in 1946. Following graduation he became an owner - operator of a paint and linoleum store in Roseau, MN from 1948 until 1952.

Phil entered the U.S. Army in March of 1952 and served during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged in January of 1954. Following his discharge he resided in California prior to moving to Minot ND in 1955 where he began employment with Fargo Glass. Phil met Lois Corwin in 1957 and later they married on September 15, 1959 in Minot. They made their home southwest of Minot where they raised their three sons.

Phil continued his employment with Fargo Glass becoming branch manager of operations with sales responsibilities. Under Phil's direction the Minot branch grew and prospered, allowing them to move into a new expanded facility in 1979. In 1986 the Bismarck branch was added to his list of responsibilities. He served on the board of directors of Fargo Glass from the early 1980's until the time of his passing. He retired in 1993.

After retiring from Fargo Glass, Phil enjoyed working at his lake cabin on Long Lake and spent time on improvements at a Marina in Bismarck that he had invested in. He also loved working in his garden, on his lawn and doing special projects for his family and friends. As a young man he enjoyed hunting and after his retirement looked forward to his many fishing trips, especially his trips to Alaska halibut fishing with his youngest son Steve.

Phil and his family were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot for several years and later became a member of Saron Lutheran Church in rural Minot. He was also a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and Roseau Lions Club.

His loving family includes his wife of 48 years: Lois; children: Paul (Pam) Jensen of Swanville, MN, Jon Jensen of Princeton, MN and Steve Jensen of Annandale, MN; grandchildren: Holly, Aaron and Kristine; great grandchild: Levi; sisters: Phyllis Jensen of Fargo, ND, Shirley (Jim) Swenson of Edina, MN and Beverly (Jack) Mack of Brookfield, WI; brother: Orville (Mary Ann) Jensen of Mankato, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents William and Olga Jensen preceded Phil in death.

Throughout his life, Phil touched the lives of many people as a business associate and as a friend, through his stories, jokes, generosity and giving nature. He had a natural talent for genuinely enjoying people.

We will miss him greatly.
