Phillip M. Aus , 76, Norwich, died Monday, October 1, 2018, in a Minot hospital.

Phil was born May 23, 1942 in Minot, ND to Perry and Thyra (Dahl) Aus. He was educated in Granville and Minot, graduating in 1960 from Minot High School.  He continued his education at Minot State, where he studied architecture.

Phil enlisted into the United States Marine Corp and began active duty on October 28, 1960. He served his country honorably in various places until his discharge on July 24, 1966.

Phil was joined in marriage to Jane Svendson in Froid, MT. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Del Rae and Michael.

Phil worked his professional life in the insurance business selling for Banker's Life and Allianz for many years. He later joined the construction industry working as a building contractor. His professional life took him all over the United States, working in North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, Connecticut, Virginia and Ohio.

Phil returned to his roots in Norwich in 2013. He worked at Home Depot in Minot and loved to work in his yard and garden. He enjoyed woodworking and shared his talents with his family, building beautiful bookcases and toy boxes. He completed many home improvement projects – and was always happy to lend a hand to anyone who had a project to complete. Most of all, Phil loved to laugh, to enjoy time with friends and family, playing games and telling stories. Phil will be missed by all who shared in his life.

Phillip's surviving family includes his children, Del Rae (Greg) Grose and Michael Aus, both of North Canton, OH; grandchildren, Tasha (Chris) Endicott, Carl (Amanda) Grose, Gianna Grose and Zachary Aus; great-grandchildren, Serenity, Maxwell and Zander Endicott and Hope and Lily Grose; sister, Dolores (Bill) Kienel, Ketchikan, AK; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Eleanor Lovedahl and Karen Testa and his brother Perry Aus, Jr.

Graveside service:  Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Norwich Lutheran Cemetery, rural Norwich, ND, to be followed by a reception at the Aus-Testa farm.
Memorials are preferred to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
