Peter Bachmeier, 68, Rugby formerly of Minot, died Wednesday, March 05, 2014, in a Minot hospital.
Peter was born July 6, 1945, in Rugby, ND to Peter and Christina (Marquart) Bachmeier in Rugby, ND. He was reared and educated in country school near Orrin, ND. Following the completion of his education, he assisted on the family farmstead.
Peter was united in marriage to Betty Kuntz on June 13, 1966 at Blumenfeld Church, near Orrin, ND. They made their home on the farm located northwest of Orrin, farming in the area until 1977, when they moved to Newburg, ND.
Peter gained employment at the Newburg Public School and at the Newburg Farmer's Union until moving to Minot in 1999. He worked in housekeeping for Trinity Hospital of Minot until his retirement in 2004. The flood of 2011 forced a move to Rugby, ND.
Peter was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Westhope, ND, St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot and most recently a member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and going for a ride in the countryside.
Peter's family includes loving wife of 47 years, Betty Bachmeier, Rugby, ND; children, Melissa (Tony) Barnes, Kent, WA, Deanna Murphy, El Paso, TX, Joseph (Monica) Bachmeier, Minot, ND, Michael (Denice) Bachmeier, Bismarck, ND and Vickie (Stacy) Sutter, Minot, ND; grandchildren, Jessica Barnes, Jennifer Barnes, Cheyenne Murphy, Logan Sutter, Megan Sutter, Mabry Bachmeier and Ryne Bachmeier; sisters, Marcella Bachmeier, Burlington, ND, Caroline Schmaltz, Velva, ND, Phyllis Lesmeister, Renton, WA, Cecelia Carrasquillo, Renton, WA and Christine (LeRoy) Haman, Devils Lake, ND; brother, Lawrence (Karen) Bachmeier, Granville, ND and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Theresa Jones, brothers, Matt, Joe and Christ Bachmeier and an infant brother, Anton Bachmeier.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 in Little Flower Catholic Church, Rugby, ND.
Vigil Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rugby, ND.
Interment: Friday, May 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church Cemetery, Rugby, ND.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Niewoehner Funeral Home, Rugby, ND.
