Peter Arthur "Pete" Lozensky, 91, Minot died on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 in his home.
Pete was born on July 21, 1919 on the family farm in Gasman Township of Ward County north of Max, ND to Arthur Sr. and Mary (Kabanuk) Lozensky. He was reared and educated in that area and graduated from Max High School. As a young adult he assisted his father and brothers on the family farm. Pete was baptized and confirmed on October 19, 1941 in an area Lutheran Church of the Missouri Synod. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a supply clerk in the South Pacific for four years. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the Minot area where he married Elsie Hoelscher on August 12, 1945. They made their home on the Hoelscher family farm northeast of Burlington from 1946 until 1958. The family moved into Minot in 1958 where he was employed for many years as a hospital orderly first at John Moses VA Hospital and later at Trinity Hospital. He retired in 1985 and had continued to make his home in Minot.
Pete was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #753 and National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He especially enjoyed reading and gardening in his free time.
Pete's loving family includes his wife of 65 years Elsie; sons: Jerry of Minot, Vance (Marian) of Max, Russell (Ruth Ann) of St. Paul and David of Minot; grandchildren: Phillip, Alex, Benjamin, Melissa, Sean, LeAlan, Sarita and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Chase, Brooke, Dalton, Sadie, Tess, Sara, Sebastian and Shyann; brother: Max of Velva; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: John, Steve and Arthur Jr.
Funeral Service:
Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Minot.
Interment
will be in Gasman Township Cemetery rural Max.
Visitation:
Sunday from noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home Minot.
