Peggy Joyce Rylander, 70, 308 28th St. N.W. - Minot and former co-owner of Motor Service Company died on Friday, November 3, 2006 in a Minot hospital.

Peggy was born on November 25, 1935, in Forest Lake, MN, to Howard and Anna (Grubbs) Reed. She was raised and educated in Wyoming MN and in Chisago City, MN and graduated from Chisago City High School in 1953. Peggy married Roger Rylander on September 24, 1954, in Wyoming, MN. The family moved to Minot in 1957 when Roger began employment with Motor Service Company. Roger and Peggy purchased Motor Service Company from Harry and Tillie Eck in 1984 at which time she was working part-time for the business.

Peggy was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and the Souris Valley Golf Course Ladies League. She especially enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, crafting, traveling, bingo and visiting.

She loved decorating for Christmas and shopping for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a kind and generous lady who paid special attention to your conversations and loved to surprise you with the perfect gift. If she couldn't buy it she would have Dad make it for you.

She was an excellent baker and cook. We will miss the family gatherings and the aroma of spaghetti slowly cooking on the stove and the homemade tacos. We will miss her remembering our favorite pie or baked goods and making sure we left with some for our home. She made sure her snack cupboard was full for her grandchildren. (Even her favorite Snickers Bars!)

She loved to sketch house plans and designed two of the houses she and Roger built. She dreamed of winning the lottery and sharing it with her family and making sure we were all cared for. What she didn't realize is that we had already won by having her in our lives.

Survivors include her loving husband of 52 years Roger; Children: Dianna Rylander of Minot, Julie (Rick) Kimberly of North Bend OR, Mark (Kathy) Rylander of Minot, Robert (Sonja) Rylander of Kenmare and Dean (Patti) Rylander of Sawyer; Fifteen Grandchildren: April (David) McKee; Adam (Lisa) Moe; Leanna, Courtney and Luke Kimberly; Michael, Christopher, Kayla, Jacob, Molly, Barry, Eric and Ashley Rylander and Darin and Jessica Ostlund; Six Great Grandchildren: Aiden and Alison McKee; Austin and Kaitlyn Moe; Chloe Grindeland and Amanda Rylander; Siblings: Dale (Marion) Reed of Finlayson MN, Glen "Bud" Reed of Wyoming MN, Bruce (Carol) Reed of Braham MN, Joan (Bill) Mackey of White Bear MN, Rosemary (Ronald) Masloski of Stacy MN and Dorothy (Jim) West of Vancouver WA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, grandchild: Michael Ostlund and sister-in-law: Mary Reed

Funeral Service: Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot;
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot;
Visitation: No reviewal, but friends may sign a memorial register book on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Augustana Lutheran Church building fund or to a local charity of the donor's choice.
