Paul A. Staael, 63, Redding, CA, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in a Minot hospital.

Paul was born February 5, 1946, in Kenmare, ND, the son of Jess O. and Anna C. (Anderson) Staael. He was raised and educated there until moving to California as a young adult. He attended LA City College, where he would obtain his degree.

Paul began his career in social work for the probation department for LA County in California working with troubled youth. He maintained his employment for a number of years until injury forced him to retire from his position. He worked in various capacities throughout his life including time spent as a Merchant Seaman.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Sacramento, CA. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He will be deeply missed by all who shared in his life.

Loving family includes: Elaine (Gene) Haugen - Jamestown, ND, Martin (Frances) Staael, Los Angeles, CA, Margaret (Gerald) Indvik, and Mary Staael, both of Bella Vista, CA and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.
