Paul E. Peterson, 88, Minot, formerly of the Makoti area, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Paul was born July 21, 1919 at Makoti, North Dakota the son of Nels and Bessie (Bivens) Peterson. He was raised and educated at Makoti and worked for various farmers in the Minot and Sawyer area during his younger years.
Paul was united in marriage to Nanna Carlson on June 26, 1940 at rural, Minot. They purchased a farmstead near Makoti in 1942, where they lived and farmed. They retired in 1988 and moved to Minot, where they have since lived.
Paul was a longtime member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot, where he served as an elder and volunteered in a number of capacities. He was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club and Farmer's Union local. He and Nanna enjoyed visiting elderly shut-ins.
His loving family includes: Wife of sixty-eight years, Nanna Peterson, Minot; Children: Shirley (Ron) Harbaugh, Cincinnati, OH, Sherman (Janice) Peterson, Makoti, Edward (Elaine) Peterson, Wahpeton, ND, Darrel (Judy) Peterson, Wrenthan, MA, and Richard (Denise) Peterson, Makoti, ND; Twenty- two Grandchildren; Thirty-seven Great Grandchildren; Sister: Betty Troite, Minot, ND and Brother: Harold Peterson, Aberdeen, SD.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Allen and Bernard and daughter-in-law: LaVonne.
Funeral service:
Monday, July 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment
: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation
: Sunday from noon -5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants memorials are preferred to Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot.
