Paul Barnaba, 92, Minot, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, FL, died Wednesday May 28, 2025, in a Minot assisted living facility, surrounded by his loving family.
Paul John Barnaba was born on July 28, 1932 in Syracuse, NY to parents Giovanni and Marietta (Schena) Barnaba. Paul was raised and educated in Syracuse, ultimately graduating from Vocational High School in 1950.
Following high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 30th, 1951, and was honorably discharged on April 29th, 1955, serving in the Korean War.
Paul met the love of his life, Juanita Rash, on March 17th, 1954 in Norfolk, VA. The couple married on September 5th, 1954 at Langley Air Force Base in Norfolk, VA.
After marriage, Paul began a career with General Electric in upstate New York. He then relocated his family to Laurel, MD working for Sun Electric and Siemens Corporation before opening his own business in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1983 until retiring in 2014. He and his wife moved to Minot, ND in December, 2023.
Paul was a jack of all trades and master of all. He designed and built the families first home in upstate New York. He enjoyed snowmobiling and car racing, building remote control boats and airplanes, camping, hunting, boating, fishing and gardening.
Paul will be remembered most as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, doing anything for his family.
Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Juanita "Nita" ; son, John (Madeleine) of Florida, along with their children: Christina & Emily; daughter, Virginia (Mark) Lamberson, of Virginia, along with their children: Brandon (Jennifer) & Brooke (Ben); daughter, Sandra (Joe) Ziliox, of Maryland, along with their children: Sean (Ashley) & Bryan (Kathryn); daughter, Mary Anne Bamberger (Kelvin), of North Dakota, along with her children: Paul & Stephen; 11 great grandchildren to include: Hunter (Kristen), Madison, Kaylee, Kamren, Gavin, Stella, Rosie, Maxden, Hallie, Antonio & Daisy; 2 great, great-grandchildren, Brent & Kalila, and numerous cousins.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Giovanni & Marietta (Schena) Barnaba; sister, Rita Turo, and his brother, Daniel Barnaba.
A celebration of Paul's life will be held on July 19th, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. in the Somerset Court Chapel in Minot, ND, with a traditional Italian lunch to follow.
