Obituary

Patricia Vannett , 80, Velva, formerly of Minot, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in her home with her beloved Jim by her side.

Patricia Annette Vannett was born October 25, 1938 to Perry and Grace (Peterson) Leathes in Carpio, ND. She was raised and educated in Burlington and graduated from Minot High School in 1956. Following high school, she was employed with Bell Telephone for a year.

Patricia was once married to Roger Waswick and they had 4 children. She married David Vannett in 1993 in Fort Worth, TX. They made their home in Granbury, TX. She was employed as a medical transcriptionist and secretary. They returned to Minot in 2004 and David died on September 28, 2004.

In 2014 she met Jim Everson and he became the love of her life. In September of 2015, she and Jim exchanged their commitment vows to each other at Strawberry Lake.  They resided in Velva together and both retired in 2015.  Jim from teaching science at Drake and Pat as a medical secretary from her home.  She had also worked as a bus aide for special needs kids in the Minot Public Schools.  They both enjoyed traveling and wintered in Mesa, AZ for 2 winters until health issues kept Pat closer to home.

Patricia's family was her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Patricia was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot, where she was involved in the church choir. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Texas, where she served as treasurer. Patricia enjoyed attending musical programs and local theatre productions. Her hobbies included: crocheting, cooking, baking, dancing and listening to music.

Patricia's loving family includes : her children, Rick (Carol) Waswick, New Castle, IN, Kelly Waswick, Minot, Perry "Gordy" Waswick, Nashville, TN and Dawn Bringe, Tampa Bay, FL; life companion: Jim Everson, Velva; 9 grandchildren: Justin Waswick, Jason Waswick, Wendi (Travis) Barret, Brandon Waswick, Jacob Waswick, Samantha Waswick, Tyler (Kelsey) Hunter, Rikki Bringe and Lee (Rachel) Bringe; 9 great-grandchildren: Arianna, Natalie and Briella Waswick, Claire and Leah Barret, Sydnie and Ayden Bringe, Aiden Hunter and Carter Waswick; siblings, Audrey  Hensley, Minot, Samuel (Mavis) Leathes, Colorado Springs, CO and Sandra (Don) Dormanen, Strawberry Lake, ND;  numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, David; brother, Howard Leathes and brother in law, Bert Hensley.

Celebration of Life Service : Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.
Interment: Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Burlington.
Visitation: Friday, July 26 th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery, Burlington or Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund.
