Obituary

Patricia Jean Rakness , 84, Minot died on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in a Richardton, ND nursing home.

Patricia was born on December 26, 1930 in Douglas, ND to Raymond and Mildred (Kelly) Harvey. She was reared in Douglas and in Torning Township of Ward County south of Minot. She was educated in Douglas and Minot. As a young adult she was employed at the Farmer's Union Creamery and as a waitress.

Patricia married Lyle Rakness on July 1, 1947 in Minot. They made their home in Minot where Lyle was co-owner of Main Electric and they had farming interests in Tolgen and Rolling Green Townships of Ward County. They were the proud parents of four children. Lyle died on December 1, 2014.

Patricia was a member of First Presbyterian Church - Minot, Women of the Moose and the Elk and Eagles Auxiliaries. She especially enjoyed traveling, gardening (especially flowers).

Patricia's loving family includes her children: Jerry Rakness (Laurel Buchholz) of Minot, Duane Rakness, Colleen LaFontaine and Shanda Aman (Bruce) all of Richardton; grandchildren: Boyd (Jessica) Rakness, Scott Rakness (Michelle Atkinson), Katrina (Shane) Barron, Kayla Rakness, Sally Niebel, Rebecca LaFontaine (Nick Feltis), Garrett Walsh, Cody Mayer (Rachelle Blinn) and Bradley (Michelle) Mayer; great grandchildren: Gunner, Addison, Easton, Cooper, Tanner, Lawson, Kenadi, Trenten, Shane Jr., Hunter, Raymen, Kyuss, Waylen, Emma, Bentley, Maci and Layken; brother: Jack Harvey of Indianola, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mildred; husband, Lyle; 5 brothers: William, Russell, Jim and Leo Harvey; sisters: Kay Gay and Margaret Harvey and great grandchildren: Ian Mayer and Tristen Rakness.

Celebration of the Life of Patricia Rakness: Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Cornerstone Presbyterian Church - Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's Association or organizations dedicated to stopping elder abuse or research and cures for Alzheimer's.
