Patricia P. "Pat" Ellingson, 83, Minot, formerly of Tioga and Martin, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 in a Minot Hospital.

Patricia was born October 1, 1933 at Martin, North Dakota, one of thirteen children to Jake and Marie (Janz) Rust. She was raised and educated in the Martin area, graduating from Martin High School in 1951. She continued her education at Minot State College, where she received her degree in elementary education. She later received her master's degree from Minot State College in reading and special education.

Pat began her teaching career at Antelope Lake Country School near Martin and then at Barton, Fessenden and Heimdal prior to her marriage to Tilford Ellingson on August 29, 1959 at Martin. They made their home at Tioga for a number of years, where she was employed as an elementary teacher and reading specialist for more than 39 years. She and Tilford also made their home in Minot, Port Huron, MI and Traverse City, MI before returning to Minot in 1994. Tilford died December 18, 2003.

Pat was a member of First Baptist Church, Minot, where she was active with the XYZ Senior group. She enjoyed doing crosswords and puzzles, along with entertaining family and friends with her formal china. She watched FOX News Channel daily and enjoyed coffee and meals out with her friends. She and her sister, Jan enjoyed putting together a family magazine they called "The Martin Glutch Gazette."

Her loving family includes, son, David (Wendy) Ellingson, Minot; grandchildren, Brianna and Spencer Ellingson; only surviving brother, James Rust, Martin, who was always grateful that Pat made sure his shoes were tied and his hat was on straight for school; sister, Julie Kautzman, Costa Rica; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Tilford and siblings, Alfred, Adeline, Marcella, Warren, Calvin, Jan, Gerhardt "Buzz", Ralph, Terry, and Bill.

Funeral service : Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Minot.

Graveside service: Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the Martin Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday, August 24th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to First Baptist Church.
