Patricia "Pat" Beverly Ankenbauer, 85, Kenmare, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in a Kenmare Hospital.
Pat was born March 3, 1929 at Drake, North Dakota, the daughter of Walter and Catherine (Krueger) Hanson. She was raised and educated at Drake and graduated from Drake High School. As a young adult she attended various colleges, including, Midwestern Airline School in Kansas City, MO, Minot State College, the Bottineau School of Forestry, Horace Mann Floral Design in Denver, Hotel Management School in Des Moines, IA and Medical Records and Coding School in Chicago, IL.
Pat was once married to Richard Ankenbauer on February 18, 1950. They divorced in 1976. Throughout the years, she was employed at Van Deusen's Specialties in Kansas City, Ann's Shop, JC Penney's, Ben Franklin and Kenmare Deaconess Hospital all in Kenmare; the Ramada Inn and Mercy Hospital, both Williston and most recently with Evan's Family Resort in Provincetown, MA.
In addition, Pat had owned and operated Ankenbauer Roller Rink, Ankenbauer Coal, Gravel, Ready Mix and Excavating, Pat's Fashion Fabrics and Pat's Floral Shop all of Kenmare. She also owned Pat's Drive Inn of Bowbells for a time. She had resided in Williston for 18 years prior to her moving to Provincetown, MA in 2005. She returned to Kenmare in August of 2010.
Pat was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. She enjoyed roller skating, bowling and hunting.
Pat is survived by her sister, Dorothy Newlin, Mount Dora, FL.; several nieces and nephews, including, Kate Newlin, Dale Newlin and great niece, Mattie Newlin.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darwin Hanson.
Funeral service
: Monday, January 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.
Visitation:
Sunday, January 18th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot and on Monday one hour prior to the service in the Church.
Memorials:
preferred to the ND Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
