Pastor Lyle Thorpe, 87, of Minot, formerly of Williston, died on Sunday, September 23rd, 2018 in a Minot hospital.

He completed his education at the age of 51 when he earned his GED. During his growing up years, because of his choices, he made several wrong turns.
He attended his local church but was never challenged to give his life to Christ. During time spent in prison, he gave his heart to Jesus and upon his release, could not help but tell others what had transpired in his life. He married a godly woman, Hilda Thorp on November 17th, 1967, who stood by his side as he continued to speak boldly for Christ. They traveled for several years while he served as an evangelist, filled in as an interim Pastor as well as other capacities, in both the Williston area and Bainville, MT.
He then continued his ministry at First Assembly of God Church in Minot, ND and served faithfully until his death. Lyle also held several different jobs during his life and while in the ministry, as a long-haul truck driver, woodworker, carpenter and as a salesman and delivery driver in local stores throughout Williston. He also became a locksmith by correspondence, starting "Lyle's Locksmithing", which he sold to a good friend and neighbor, that is still in business today. . all of which took second to his love of spreading the gospel to others. He loved a variety of activities including hunting, fishing, woodworking, metal and leather craft and he especially loved to read. His wife Hilda passed away on April 18th, 2013.
Lyle married Yvonne 'Bonnie' (Ediger) Forsberg on November 9th, 2014. They made their home in Minot where they served together in the jail ministry, facilitated Wednesday Night Bible Study, visited shut-ins as well as hospital and nursing home patients and were active in the Young At Heart and Adult ministry.
