Obituary

Palma Alvida Peterson, 90, Minot, and formerly of Velva and Norwich, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in a Minot Hospital.

Palma was born October 3, 1917 at Norwich, North Dakota, the daughter of Peder and Petrina (Sollid) Moen. She was raised and educated at country schools near Simcoe and graduated from Velva High School in 1935.

Palma was united in marriage to Harold Nestingen on December 9, 1939 at Stenkjaer Lutheran Church, Simcoe. They made their home in McHenry County near Norwich for ten years, until moving to Minot. Palma was employed locally at Chain's Food Market, Oppen's Grocery Store, Bowles Jr Clothing Store, Woolworth's, J.C. Penney for 14 years and the Pollyana Shop as a sales clerk. Harold died on February 28, 1975 and Palma retired from work in the late 1970's.

Palma was united in marriage to Leonard Peterson on May 22, 1981 at Bismarck. They made their home in Minot. Leonard died January 11, 1987. Palma had resided at Emerald Court since May of this year.

Palma was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was active with the ladies circle groups. She was also a member of the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, doing embroidery work, playing bingo, dancing, traveling and spending time with her family.

Her loving family includes: Children: Betty (Dennis) Oothoudt, Minot; Pauline (Mike) Stadick, Sheridan, WY; Harlan (Sheri) Nestingen, Kalispell, MT; Grandchildren: Todd Oothoudt; Brad (Camille) Oothoudt and their children, Ashley, Josh and Hunter; Scott (Randi) Oothoudt and their children, Tanner, Nathan and Brynn; Steve (Sara) Stadick, and their children, Seth and Paul; Rick (Sharon) Stadick; John (Kathryn) Stadick and their son, Nicholas; Adam (Serene) Nestingen and their children, Cadance, Garrett, and Kaleb; Erik Nestingen; Sister: Ann (Clifford) Thom, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Palma was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Harold and Leonard, brothers: Elmer, Norman and Harold and sisters, Thelma, Jeanne, Ingeborg and Alice.

Funeral service: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot;

Interment : Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot;

Visitation : Monday from 2:00pm -7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot;

Memorials: Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church.
