P. Harold Peterson, 91 , Carpio, died on Thursday, February 24, 2011, in Burlington at the adult foster care home at Barb Enney's, where he enjoyed the last days of his life.

Harold was born October 21, 1919, in Makoti, ND the son of Jacob and Laura (Ronningen) Peterson. He was raised and educated in Carpio graduating from Hartland High School in 1937. He assisted on the family farmstead in Carpio Township. After the death of his father in 1941, Harold assumed the daily operations on the farm until his retirement in 1985 when he turned over the farming and ranching operations to his nephew, Troy Peterson.

He married Borghild Thingelstad on June 28, 1965, at Carpio Lutheran Church in Carpio. They lived on the family farmstead until 1992 when they moved to Carpio, ND. Borghild died on April 13, 2010.

Harold was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church, and served on Carpio Farmers Union Elevator Board and the church board.

His hobbies included fishing and traveling, especially to Norway to visit family and friends. Harold enjoyed spending time with Barb's dog "Trouble".

Harold is survived by his stepchildren: Mable Meland, Morrill, NE; Gordon (Judy) Meland, Palm Bay, FL; Bonnie (Larry) Gilomen, Overgaard, AZ; Morris Meland, Minot, ND; brothers: Lloyd (Joyce) Peterson, Carpio, ND; Donald (Helen) Peterson, Berthold, ND; sisters; Lois (Glen) Smith, Colorado Springs, CO; Marilyn Payne, Minot; sister-in-law, Betty Peterson, Minot; numerous nieces and nephews; 10 Step Grandchildren, and 20 Step Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Borghild, sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Norman Lee, brothers and sisters-in-law, Freeman and Angeline Peterson, Jack and Sharron Peterson and Marvin Peterson, brother-in-law, Ruthford "Red" Payne, nephew, Neil Petersonand stepson Ardell Meland.

Funeral Service : Friday, March 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio.
Interment : Spring of 2011 in Carpio Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio.
Visitation: Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 2 -7 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
