Orris Allen Brown, 85, Minot died on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in a Minot hospital.

Orris was born on August 4, 1932 in Rugby, ND to Allen and Alida (Anderson) Brown. He grew up on the family farm near Esmond, attended school in Esmond and graduated from Esmond High School in 1952.

Orris enlisted in the U.S. Navy on December 1, 1952. He was disabled while in the military and received his honorable discharge on September 30, 1954 from the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. While serving his country he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

Orris was once married to Mildred Ongstad and they were the parents of three children; Paulette, Marie and Orris Jr. Orris married Susan Gullickson on November 15, 1982. They made their home in Minot and were the proud parents of two sons; Tim and Kevin Brown.

Orris was a member of Christ Lutheran Church - Minot and life member of the American Legion Post #26, William G. Carroll, V.F.W. and Disabled Veterans 515 Club. His hobbies and special interests included working on old cars, playing cards and spending time with his family.

Orris' loving family includes his loving wife of 35 years Susan; children: Paulette (Jim) Kriedeman of Burlington, ND, Marie Snyder of Ruckersville VA, Orris Jr. (Tammy) Brown of Minot, Tim (Tina) Brown of Minot, ND and Kevin (Laurel) Brown of Velva, ND; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, siblings: Eunice Hudspeh, of Panama City, FL, Joyce Doobley, of Hayword, CA, and Sharon Garbo, of Elpaso, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Orris was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Celebration of the Life of Orris Brown: Wednesday, January 3, 2018 1 PM Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.

Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery - rural Mandan.

Visitation: One Hour prior to the funeral service at Thomas Family Funeral Home Wednesday
