Obituary

Orlin Dale Pankratz, 79, Minot, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 24, 2019.

Orlin was born September 22, 1939 in Langdon, ND to Frank and Louise (Loewen) Pankratz. He spent his childhood in Alsen, ND and was a graduate of Alsen High School (1957) and Minot State University (1961) with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education. Orlin later attended the Wisconsin School of Banking.

Orlin married Linda Stensland on August 26, 1961 in Edmore, ND. They moved to Minot, where Orlin carved his path in the banking industry. He was employed by Union National Bank and later First Bank. In 1986, he took an ag lending position at Town and Country Credit Union and later became Vice President. He loved working with farmers and helped many get their start.

Orlin was an active member of First Baptist Church in Minot, where he served as a deacon, trustee, choir member, and Sunday school teacher. He led Bible studies and was a part of small groups within the church as well as the XYZ senior adult ministry. Orlin loved the church and any ministry that would share the gospel and serve the community.

Orlin maintained memberships with the Minot Kiwanis and the American Quarter Horse Association. He served in the Army Reserve for 6 years and was active for six months.

After retiring in 2000, Orlin and Linda spent winters in Arizona and enjoyed making new friends and riding horse. Orlin loved horseback riding at home, in the North Dakota Badlands and in the mountains. He made many trips with family and friends to camp and trail ride. He treasured his family and loved treating his grandkids with ice cream.

Orlin's surviving family includes his loving wife of 57 years, Linda Pankratz, Minot; sons, Darin (Holly) Pankratz, Bothell, WA, Paul (Kelly) Pankratz, Sioux Falls, SD and John (Amber) Pankratz, Minot, ND; 10 grandchildren, Zachary, Caitlin, Lauren, Emma, Jaden, Levi, Olivia, Noel, Eli and Isaac; sisters, Joan Scott, Melva (Bill) Putnam Minot, ND and Karen (Elmon) Larson, Omaha, NE along with a number of nieces and nephews.
