Ora Askvig, 88, Carpio and formerly of Minot died on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Trinity Homes.

Ora Lucille was born on August 15, 1932 near Rawson, ND to Burton and Helen (Helseth) Anderson.  She was raised on a farm near Carpio, attended rural schools and graduated from Carpio High School in 1950.

Ora married Lloyd Askvig on June 18, 1950 in Carpio.  They made their home in Carpio from 1950 until 1957, Washington state for two years before moving to Minot in 1959.  Ora was employed as a librarian at Sunnyside Elementary School from 1971 until 1981 when she retired.  Lloyd died on October 31, 2016 and Ora returned to Carpio in July of 2017.

Ora is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and its ladies organization.  More recently, she had been attending the Carpio Lutheran Church and has been an active volunteer at Trinity Hospital in the Gift Shop since the mid 1970's.  She especially enjoyed painting, knitting, gardening and reading.

Ora's loving family includes her children:   Catherine Armstrong and Maurice (Chastity) Askvig all of Carpio and Martin Askvig of Loveland CO;  grandchildren:  James (Erin) Armstrong, Heather (Greg) Feland, Chutney Askvig-Barnes (Chad) Barnes, Caydra, Siri, Reidun, Cimarron Askvig and Tristan Thompson; great  grandchildren: Jessica, Tristan, Alex, Tyrell, Hannah, Allie, Everleigh, Kinsleigh, Harleigh;  great great grandchildren: Brecken, Jameson, Toby; siblings:  Margaret (Harold) Loritz of Bismarck, Maynard (Patsy) Anderson of Carpio and Barb (Bob) Snyder of Howard, PA; in-laws Alrie and Lois Askvig,   Dorothy Bird, Pat Theisen and Darlene Askvig along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ora was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Lloyd, parents, daughter: Cynthia, son: Michael, granddaughter: Michelle and her husband James Bland, brother: John Anderson.

Private Celebration of the Life of Ora Askvig:  Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carpio Lutheran Church.  Masks are required and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

Public Visitation :  Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.  Masks are required and social distancing is strongly encouraged.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Carpio Cemetery Association or Carpio Food Pantry.
