Olyve J. Enders , 93, Minot, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Southwest Healthcare Long term Center in Bowman.
The first of two services will be held in Bowman, ND on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 10:30 am (MST) at the Bowman Lutheran Church with officiating clergy, Mark Nygard.
Olyve Engen was born on February 7, 1924 the youngest of nine children raised by Hans and Amelia Engen. She was the last of her family and her husband's family of ten to follow them home. She was educated in country schools in south Meadow Township in Williams County, ND, often staying in the school with her sister Inga, who was the teacher. During high school, she lived in Williston with her sister Serena's family and graduated from Williston High School in 1942.
Olyve was then employed by Midwest Lumber in Williston and Minot Builders of Minot. She was united in marriage to Walter Enders on August 2, 1944. "Wally" and "Olly" made their home on his family's farm northwest of Minot in Harrison Township where they raised their children; Marilyn, Roger and Linda. Following Wally's passing in October of 1978, she moved into Minot in 1979.
Olyve was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active in the Altar Guild and Naomi Church Circle in addition to serving on many committees within the church. She served many years as the coordinator of many luncheons for funeral services and gatherings at the church. Olyve was a member of the ELCW and a past member of the Eurkea Homemakers Club.
She worked hard on the farm raking hay, raising chickens, and alongside her daughter, they raised acres of corn to sell at the farmers market as a source of income. Olly was best known for her Norwegian baking. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing kings in the corner and dominos. She made hundreds of quilts for Lutheran World Relief and Ward County foster children. She loved her final days at the Southwest Healthcare Long-Term Center in Bowman where everyone knew she liked purple, owls and orange pop. Olly was a kind, generous woman and God's blessing to all of us.
Olly will be warmly remembered by her children, Gene and Marilyn Fischer and their children, Gina and Jay Griffin, Marcus and Mary Fischer, Maretta and Brett Hendrickson, Jen and Rick Padilla and Deanna and Jonathan Jeffers; Roger and Kathy Enders and their children, Ruth and Joe Faul and Lee and Cammie Enders; Linda Enders and Linden Horob; great-grandchildren who also have fun memories of her are Trevor, Megan, Josh and Jordan Griffin, Tim, Michaela and Kevin Fischer, Kylee, Jacob, Brady and Aftin Hendrickson, Daniel, Joseph, Clara and Thomas Padilla, and Lane, Beau, Amy and Sarah Jeffers, Rebecca and Derek Faul, and Laci Lee, Brandon and Logan Enders.
