Olga Jans, 94, Minot, formerly of Drake, went into the loving arms of her Lord on Sunday, November 9, 2008.
Olga was born November 20, 1913 at Medicine Hat, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Fred and Marie (Jans) Ponto. She attended schools at Lashburn, Saskatchewan and was united in marriage to Fred Jans on July 10, 1937 at Drake.
They moved from Lashburn to Drake that same year and began farming south of Drake. Olga loved gardening and growing flowers. She always had enough to share with others, and loved making bouquets for the church and special occasions. She enjoyed baking and always had a coffee pot on and something baked to offer friends. Growing up, the family always remembered her fried bread dough on bread baking days. The grandkids remember the fresh bread. Olga and Fred enjoyed traveling and always called these days her "Precious Memories" .
Olga was a former member of the Drake Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active with the Ladies Aide. She was most recently a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. In the summers, she helped work at Camp Bentley Bible Camp getting the facilities ready for the campers. She was a willing worker and very devoted to her faith. In the Winter time, Olga enjoyed doing embroidery work and reading. Fred died December 8, 1995.
In 1999, Olga moved to Edgewood Vista, Minot and in 2004 moved to Trinity Homes.
Her loving family includes : Daughters, Jeanne Wold, Ray, ND, Charlene (Doyle) Pooler, Roseburg, OR;Grandchildren: Darla Gilbert, Darin Pooler, Samuel (Anita) Harbin, Melvin (Shelly) Harbin, Katherine Harbin; Great-Grandchildren: Bret Gilbert and Jacie Marie Brown; Aubrey, Dylan, Dayana and Taytum Char Marie Pooler; Trevor and Tanner Harbin; Melissa Rentfro; Sisters, Alice Klinger, Lloydminister, Saskatchewan and Frieda (Ben) Hauff, Billings, Montana, along with several nieces and nephews.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Ferdinand, Henry, Alfred and Emil Ponto; Sisters, Pauline, Helen and Laura and son-in-law: Sanford Wold, great-grandson, Tommy Wayne Rentfro.
Funeral service
: Friday, November 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in Trinity Homes Chapel, Minot;
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot;
Visitation:
Thursday from 2:00-7:00pm in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
