Obituary

Odell Everett Thompson , 66, Laporte, MN, passed away at his home on Monday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by his sister-in-law, brother and niece.

Odell was born September 1, 1958 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Alta Mae (Carpenter) and Odie Thompson. Odell lived in Weiser, Idaho, with his twin brother, Odie, and twin brothers, Larry and Llyod, and his parents, until his father passed away on February 22, 1970. When Odell was 11 or 12 the family moved to Portland, Oregon where the boys grew up. Odell was a baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

Odell worked for a workshop for developmentally disabled people from the mid 80's until 1992. After the death of their mother in 1991, at age 32, Odell and his twin brother Odie moved to Guthrie, Minnesota to live with their brother Jim, his sister-in-law, Gloria and nieces. After moving to Minnesota, Odell worked at the Northern Cass DAC in Walker, Minnesota until he retired in 2010.

Odell enjoyed attending church and singing, he knew all the words to every song. Odell enjoyed potluck. He liked to watch people. When we couldn't attend church, he would enjoy watching church on TV. He especially enjoyed singing with singers while watching the praise him channel on 3abn TV.

Odell also enjoyed sitting on the porch, playing with toy cars and taking pens apart. He loved things he could put in his pockets. Odell loved playing with Legos with his nephews

Odell enjoyed helping in the kitchen, opening the refrigerator and shutting cupboard doors.

Odell helped bring groceries in by opening and closing the door.

Odell never once complained. He also loved life. His yesterday was a good day, and his tomorrow will be even better when he opens his eyes and sees Jesus, who he loved so much.
