Norah Dahl, 83, Minot, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, in a Minot hospital.

Norah Hawkins Dahl was born April 11, 1933, in Englewood, NJ to Frank and Margaret (Coleman) Hawkins. She spent much of her childhood at Shannon Stables, her father's stable in Bedford Village, NY, where she learned to ride English style from her father. She loved to ride horses and rode in horse shows with great success as a girl, even riding in Madison Square Garden. She loved sports. Norah played softball and golf and once dazzled her children when she won the rolling pin toss at a fair.

Norah was blessed with seven children from her first marriage to John L. Neale of Bedford. She spent many years organizing girl scouts, birthday parties, holiday traditions, along with church and school fundraisers.

Norah worked at Reader's Digest, as a realtor and a medical technician. Norah also taught riding as an adult. She became a P.H.A. horse show judge, following the footsteps of her father and brothers, Stephen and Arthur.

Norah loved bowling and trivia nights with friends, two weekly events she hated to miss. Her love of animals never changed. She always loved dogs, especially Schipperkes, often having more than one, all of them beloved. She also found great joy in feeding the birds around her home. Norah was a gigantic Minnesota Vikings fan, and was ever hopeful this would be their year.

Norah was united in marriage to Lloyd Dahl on August 10, 2001 in the Gol Stave Church at the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot. She treasured most the time she spent traveling with him, whether it was to the races, an auction or just to pick up a car part. He was the love of her life.

Norah's surviving family includes her beloved husband of 15 years, Lloyd Dahl, Minot; her children, Norah (Keith Kozloff) Neale, Takoma Park, MD, Amy (Tim Larkin) Neale, Milton, MA, Frank Neale, Minneapolis, MN, Debbie (John) O'Toole, Minneapolis, MN, John Patrick (Tracey) Neale, North Carolina; stepchildren, Kari (Steve) Files, Minot, ND and Mark (Mary) Dahl, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Alexander, Stephanie, Christopher, Aaron, Max, Maggie, Ryan and Brandon; step-grandchildren: Adam, Ariel (Allen), Noah (Kristin), Landon, Alexis and Hailee; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Maeli, Larae, Kaelyn, Jax; brother, Arthur Hawkins, Rancho, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Norah was preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael Neale, daughter, Mary Neale and brothers, Frank, Stephen and Malcom Hawkins.

Celebration of Life Service: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Gol Stave Church, in the Scandinavian Heritage Park, Minot, ND. A reception will follow the service.

There will be no reviewal, however family and friends are invited to sign a memorial register book on Friday, September 23, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
