Ninette Louise "Nan" Becker, 65, died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 12, 2011, surrounded by loved ones after courageously battling cancer for nearly two years.

Nan was born June 2, 1945, in Minot, ND, the first daughter of Donald and Alice Read. She attended a number of country schools before graduating from Mohall High School in 1963. Nan married her high school sweetheart, Richard Becker, on June 14, 1964, in Mohall.

Nan worked as a secretary at First Presbyterian Church Minot, an orthodontic assistant for Dr. Sommers, and a receptionist for Dakota Dental Health Center before retiring from Michael's Arts and Crafts Store in Grand Forks in 2007. She taught Sunday School and Confirmation classes at First Presbyterian Church Minot where she was a longtime member. She loved to organize youth groups and activities at the church. She was active in Circle, Homemakers, and her local PEO chapter, which was very special to her, holding many local and state offices.

She always looked forward to being involved in the events her family enjoyed. Large family gatherings were never a chore as she treasured these precious times.

She volunteered at the schools her kids attended. She loved camping trips with her family, be it rain or shine. She went on many adventures with Richard on the back of a motorcycle, even tenting out, but would have rather been in a motel. Grandchildren were typically the highlight of their trips. She loved scrapbooking, cross-stitching, shopping and Kenny G concerts.

Survivors: husband of nearly 45 years, Richard; son, Donald (Kim) Becker, Eagan, MN, and their sons Tyler and Alex; daughter Michelle (Randy) Nations, Breckenridge, CO, and their children Megan, Maddie, Haley and Gavin; Sister, Donita (David) Klassy, Mohall, ND; Step-father, Carl Solar, Mohall, ND; step-brothers, William Solar, Virginia Beach, VA., and Terry Solar, Chandler, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nan was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service: Monday, May 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church Minot.
Interment: Mohall Cemetery
Family Service: 7 P.M., Sunday, May 15, at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, Minot, ND.
Visitation: Sunday, May, 15, Noon until 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home.
