Nina Stair , 90, Minot and formerly of Denbigh, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 in a Minot Hospital.

Nina was born May 27, 1920 in Finley, North Dakota to Jens and Mary (Gummelgard) Paulsen. She was raised and educated in Finley, graduating from Finley High School in 1937.

After graduation, Nina moved to Detroit, MI and worked in a factory before she entered the U.S. Army where she was a truck driver being honorably discharged in 1946.

Nina was united in marriage to Joe Stair on June 6, 1948 in rural Portland, ND. They lived in Argusville, Cooperstown, Lewistown, finally making their home in Denbigh, where they farmed and ranched for 42 years, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the VFW Auxiliary, Prairie Rose Homemaker's Club in Denbigh, various square dance clubs and spent time doing volunteer work. Nina's hobbies included cooking, baking and square dancing.

Nina is survived by her brothers: William Paulsen, Finley, ND, Elgar (Ernestine) Paulsen, Hannaford, ND; cousins: Holly (Bob) Wheeler, Tioga, ND Jamie Stair, Bismarck, ND, Connie (Jim) Hval, Williston, ND, Kristi Stair, Denver, CO, Lillian (Buddy) Mohler, Sun City Center, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; brothers: Harold, Chester, Clarence, Benjamin, Edward; and sisters: Dorothy, Marie, and Eleanor.

Funeral Service: Wednesday October 27, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Visitation: Tuesday October 26, 2010 from 2-7 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, rural Mandan.
Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veteran's Cemetery, rural Mandan, American Cancer Society, or the First Presbyterian Deacon's fund.
