Nancy E. Lien , 72, Bismarck formerly of Minot, died September 1, 2025 in a Bismarck nursing home.

Nancy was born September 1, 1953, in Minot, North Dakota to Arthur and Nona (Grasmoen) Lien.  She called Plaza, ND home while growing up and graduated from Plaza High School in 1971. She moved to Golden Valley, MN to continue her education at Golden Valley Lutheran College where she studied child psychology and child development. She earned her degree in 1973.

Nancy remained in the Minneapolis area during her working years. She was employed at Dungarvin as a program director meeting the needs of many individuals from all walks of life tailoring programs for their success. In addition to her full time position, Nancy used her skillset to serve individuals on weekends and after hours providing opportunities to those in need for a number of years.

In 1976, Nancy took a position with Tennant Company in their credit and collection department.  She excelled within the company for the next twenty-five years, working her way to a management position. She retired in 2000 and moved to North Dakota, settling in Minot.  She was a resident of Edgewood until moving to Missouri Slope in Bismarck as her health required additional services for the last few years of her life.

Nancy was a hall of fame shopper and QVC was always on the television.  She was crafty, creative and always independent. She loved animals, sharing compassion for many pet cats during her life.  She will be missed by all who were blessed to share in her life.

Nancy is survived by her brother Gary (Dee) Lien, Plaza, ND; sister-in-law Lee Lien, Minot; nieces Dr. Heather (John Pillasch) Lien – Salt Lake City, UT and Jen (Craig Haskins) Lien, Minot, ND; nephews Garrett (Laura) Lien, Minot, ND, Kris (Kathryn) Lien, Minot, ND and Sean (Mandy) Lien, Phoenix, AZ and great-nieces Piper Lien, Minot and Breanna (Hogan) McDonald, Minneapolis, MN.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Nona Lien, brother Gordy Lien and grandparents Peter and Mathia Lien and Hilmer and Ella Grasmoen.

Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends: Friday, September 12, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: East Cemetery, Plaza, ND at a later date.
