Myrtle Madeline Lund, 97, Minot died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in a Minot nursing home.

Myrtle was born on November 7, 1915 on a farm near Surrey, ND to David and Anna (Engebretson) Barsness. She was reared on the family farm and attended Maryland Township School.

Myrtle married Glenn Lund on January 29, 1935 at First Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot where she was employed at Montgomery Ward Department Store. Also, she assisted her husband with the operation of Lund's Meats and Delicatessen and Lund's Locker Plant a family business established in the early 1970's. Myrtle and Glenn had resided in the Marion Heights Condominium Complex for many years and spent the summer months at Lake Metigoshe for more than 50 years. Glenn died on March 30, 1999. For the past four years Myrtle lived at Trinity Homes where she received excellent care.

Myrtle was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church where she was past president of the church women and was a member of a church circle. She especially enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing, gardening and spending time at the family lake home.

Myrtle's loving family includes her children: Glenn (Edna) Lund of Plymouth MN, Karen Lund of St. Paul MN and Loanne (John) Olson of Lake Metigoshe; grandchildren: Mark (Jenni) and David (Lindi) Lund, Brandy and Shamra Campbell and Karnette (Chris) Carmon; step grandchildren: Chad (Krista) Olson, Jennifer (Jeff) Kragh and Missy (Rick) Lucier; great-grandchildren: Jordan Carmon, Kaelie and Alyssa Lund and Emily Olson; step great-grandchildren: Kyler, Karter, Kenadi, Brenner and Weston Olson; Josh and Jamey Kragh; and Cali and Karsen Lucier and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Viola Dickey, Hazel Barsness, Irene Wallery, Delia Bowman and Bernice Gerszewski and brothers: LaVerne, Bernie, Blaine and Olger Barsness; granddaughter Heidi Campbell and great-grandchildren: Jared Carmon and Chelsea Kragh.

Celebration of the Life of Myrtle Lund: Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church - Minot.
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park - Minot.
Visitation: Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home - Minot.
Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church or Metigoshe Ministries.
