Myrtle I. Boger, 78, Minot, formerly of Benedict, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 in a Minot Nursing Home.
Myrtle was born July 21, 1931 at Benedict, North Dakota, the daughter of Carl and Lillian (Westman) Gullickson. She was raised and educated at Benedict and graduated from Benedict High School in 1949. She attended Minot Business College for one year, and worked for a short time in Minnesota at Augsburg Publishing Company. She returned to Benedict and went to work at Saunders Wholesale Company in Minot.
Myrtle was united in marriage to Melvin Boger on September 16, 1956 at Benedict. They moved to Minot later that same year, where she continued to work for Saunder's Wholesale, along with raising their four children. Myrtle later returned to work, working as a housekeeper for several area families and as a janitor at a local bar. She retired in 1997.
Myrtle was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot, where she was active with the Church Women and the Annual Lutefisk dinner. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, along with canning much of her produce and baking for family and friends.
Her loving family includes , husband of fifty-three years, Melvin; children, Karen (Kevin) Hodges, Panama City, FL, Dennis (Jenny) Boger, Bismarck, Karla (Dan) Hamilton, Minot and Don Boger, Minot; grandchildren: Blair and Heather Hamilton, Justin and Jeremy Hodges; great-granddaughter, Emma Hamilton; Sister, Anna (Otto) Kohler, Max, ND; brother, Ralph (Georgeon) Gullickson, Minot.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service
: Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment:
Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation:
Thursday
from 2:00-7:00pm in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor's choice.
