Obituary

Morris Mason Ronde, 86, Minot, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family and hospice.

Morris was born March 7, 1930 on the family farm near Hope, North Dakota the son of Knud Sr. and Gladys (Wood) Ronde. He was raised and educated at Hope and graduated from Hope High School in 1948.

Morris was united in marriage to Helen Brinkman on March 23, 1951 at Hatton. He enlisted with the U.S. Army on April 10, 1951 and honorably served his country until January 3, 1957 during the Korean War.

Morris and Helen made their home in Hope for several years, where together they farmed and raised their children. They left the farm in 1963 and moved to St. Paul, MN, where he received training to operate a Holiday Gas Station there. They moved with the company to Fargo a short time later and to Minot in 1965 to operate a Holiday Station locally.

Morris later managed O'Day Equipment and Overhead Door Company, prior to him starting Magic City Garage Door, which he owned and operated the business until it was sold and he retired. During his retirement years, he worked part time for REM and the Minot Park District. Helen died July 20, 2014.

Morris was a member of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, Minot American Legion Post #26, Moose Lodge and 7th Calvary Unit. His hobbies and special interests included, watching Minnesota Twins games, playing with animals, along with spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His loving family includes , children, Debbie Turner, Minot, Becky Ronde, Minot and Mesa, AZ, Vickie (David) Anfinson, Minot; daughter in law, Nancy Ronde, Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Shawn Turner, Amanda (Brook) Moore, Trevor (Megan) Ronde, Joshua (Amanda) Anfinson, Sarah Jo (Kent) Weishaar; great-grandchildren, Mason and Odin Anfinson, Estella, Rowen, Luc and Kate Weishaar; Sister, Norma Jean Ven Huizen, Valley City, ND; sister in law, Marilyn Ronde, Valley City, ND; several nieces and nephews.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, son, Mark, and a brother, Knud Ronde Jr.

A Graveside service will take place later in the Spring of 2017 at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: At his request, there will not be a viewing, however friends and family can sign a memorial register book on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
In lieu of flowers or plants Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor\'s choice.
